Board President Message

A Message from Randy H. Luffman
President, Jerusalem House Board of Directors

This is an exciting time for Jerusalem House! We have just completed a five year strategic plan which guided us through the largest expansion in our history. Now, as we implement our new five-year plan, we embark on a new course that holds promise of not only aggressive expansion, but also enrichment of current Jerusalem House programs for our residents, including the many children we serve.

It is our aspirational desire to support as many people as possible in their move to a healthier life, beginning with stable housing. And for the children of Jerusalem House, we are dedicated to helping break the cycle of homelessness, so that these wonderful youngsters can grow into productive, independent, healthy and happy adults.

The National AIDS Strategy notes that housing and a stable medical treatment go hand-in-hand. Further, homeless individuals with HIV are more likely to delay HIV care, have less access to regular healthcare, and are less likely to receive and maintain important antiretroviral therapy. Evidence that “Housing is Healthcare” has never been stronger.

Our goals and mission are formidable, so we not only welcome, but actively seek out new opportunities in funding and cooperative relationships. We are proud to say that over ninety percent of every dollar donated to Jerusalem House goes directly to housing and program expenses. The dedication of our extremely talented staff and Executive Director, Charlie Frew, keep administrative costs low, so that we can provide housing for as many residents as possible.

So please, enjoy our website, and join us in our efforts! A warm thank you to all who have so generously contributed in the past, whether through financial, in-kind, or volunteer donations, and a welcoming thank you to those who are joining our family of supporters for the first time.
